“Every human being is the author of his own health or disease.” Buddha

Do we create/influence our level of health and ill health/disease?

In over 22 years of helping thousands of patients, I would say that at least 90+% of our current state of health is self-created. 10% +/- is pure genetics, which may be influenced, negatively or positively, by our daily acts.

So, which diseases are predominately caused by US, knowingly/on-purpose (smoking, poor eating habits, lack of exercise, drugs, excessive alcohol, chemicals, avoidable stressors….) or unknowingly (basically, lack of knowing that the acts just listed are health damaging)?

First and foremost:

Diabetes (pre-diabetes and insulin resistance)

High Cholesterol

Hypertension / High Blood Pressure

Obesity / Over-Weight

Osteoporosis

Heart Disease

Cancer

Other conditions that are very strongly related to what we do or don’t do to our body:

Alzheimer’s

Auto Immune Conditions (middle age onset)

Which diseases respond the best to lifestyle modification (diet, exercise and target nutritional supplementation) than the do to potentially dangerous drugs?

Diabetes (pre-diabetes and insulin resistance)

High Cholesterol

Hypertension / High Blood Pressure

Obesity / Over-Weight

Osteoporosis

Heart Disease

Stomach and GI Conditions (Ulcer, Ulcerative Colitis, Irritable Bowel Disease, Crohn’s Disease…)

Eczema

Cancer (as a preventative more so than a treatment. Chemotherapy and radiation are even worse as a long-term treatment, as success is only measured as, “being alive five years post original diagnosis, no matter what the state the cancer is in at that time”).

The above disease states, as well as many more not listed, can and have be treated, with almost 100% effectiveness, utilizing lifestyle modifications, alone.

Here is a set of questions to see if there needs to be some attention paid to the topic of health. Please email me back with your responses and/or questions (cut and paste) – info@advancedhealing.com. If you are presently under active care, then this would apply to anyone you know that would benefit from my help.

Do you or someone you know have any of the above conditions?

If there was an easy, safe, affordable and effective way to reverse the condition/disease would you be interested in knowing more about it?

Is there something stopping you from getting better?

Is there something about your present state of health that needs changing? What is it?

If on a medication, would you like to get off of it, if it were possible?

Do you ever complain about how bad you feel?

Do you move with pain or lack of breath?

Does having more energy, living longer and healthier interest you?

Would you like to save money on your health care spending?

In 22+ years of active practice I have helped thousands of people, just like you, live happier and more productive lives. All without the use of harmful drugs. There is no better time to make your health a priority, than right now. You owe it to yourself to live every day to the fullest, without pain or illness.

I look forward to hearing from all of you.

Sincerely,

Dr. Marcus Ettinger

March 28, 2011: Due to the tragedy unfolding, this very moment, in Japan, the world has a renewed interest in Iodine, specifically in the form of potassium iodide. Not since George Orwell’s, “Cold War” was popularized in 1947, have we seen this level of interest, in this often misunderstood mineral compound. The sad part is that people are discovering it for the first time, rediscovering it and/or hording it, for completely the wrong reasons. (Beneficial reasons – Visit Iodine4Health.Com )

Yes, if there happened to be a nuclear event in our own back-yard, like at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, we would all benefit from a ration of potassium iodide (Iodoral). The truth of the matter is, the meltdown that is taking place at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant in Japan – WILL NOT affect us. We WILL NOT be exposed to dangerously high radiation levels. Any negative impact to our health, because of this event, will be primarily psychological in nature – in the form of: fear, anxiety, worry, depression, uncertainty, apathy…. This psychological torture is being promoted and fostered by the media, in part, because the press is not reporting what the public truly needs and wants to know, “is there any real risk of unhealthful radiation exposure from the nuclear meltdown in Japan?”

I posed this question to two reputable professors, one at USC and the other at UC Berkeley, who would know the answer and tell it exactly as it is.

Dr. Marcus Ettinger (to the professors): I am writing a post, to be published on my blog, in order to better educate my patients and those who follow my blog.

Question: let’s say the worst case scenario occurs, a further or complete melt-down of reactor 2 (or other reactors). What, in your estimation, would be the absolute risk of radiation exposure we could face in California?

Is there a possibility, even if remote, that we could be exposed to levels amounting to or exceeding 100mSv? (Radiation Dose Chart – not sent in original question) Or, is the distance so great between us and Japan that the radiation would be diluted and pose no or negligible health risk?

I truly appreciate any insight you can share with me. This will most certainly help many people and lesson the fear they are experiencing because of an information vacuum. When there is a lack of information people will fill-in the void with reactive, rather than analytical thought.

Thank you in advance,

Sincerely,

From: Dan Stram, PhD

Hi Dr. Ettinger,

Judging by the one complete meltdown that has occurred, i.e. Chernobyl, I would have to say that it is inconceivable that anyone in the US would see exposures anywhere near the 100mSv that you ask about even if the scale of the disasters were the same. Japan is a 10 hour plane flight from California, any fallout that could be lifted high enough to reach the west coast would have to be so diluted and spread out as to be of no significance to US public health (e.g. contributing far less than normal background radiation to even the most exposed). Other pathways (e.g. seafood from Japan etc) are also extremely remote and not likely to provide concentrated levels. In Japan itself the most important pathway involves milk contamination with Iodine 131 and this can be closed off by not drinking locally produced milk.

So far the Fukushima releases are not anywhere near the significance of the Chernobyl event and it seems unlikely that even a worse-case in Japan could be anywhere near as large as Chernobyl which exploded and burned uncontrolled for days with no containment.

Workers in Japan are at risk – i.e. those actually performing the emergency work at Fukushima. Apparently some numbers of them are getting doses above 100mSv from what I have been reading.

From: Edward C. Morse, PhD:

1. The radioactivity exposure potential at any of the reactors is now less than one percent of its original level.

2. In the case of Chernobyl, Berkeley was running at about ten times normal background for about a week. That resulted in an additional exposure of 70 day’s worth, or about 40 millirem. One transcontinental jet aircraft round trip from here to Washington, DC is about 5 millirem.

3. This accident, maximum, would be 100 times less release than Chernobyl, or about 0.5 millirem.

4. Note that 1 Sv=100 Rem, so this translates to 5 micro-Sievert (mS), well below your 100 mSv question.

Edward Morse, PhD
UC Berkeley Department of Nuclear Engineering

My Commentary: I love potassium iodide (Iodoral) and I’ve been taking 50 mg’s/day since mid-February (1 month before the 9.0 earthquake and subsequent tsunami that hit Japan on March 11, 2011). I even have my six year old daughter on a small dose 450 mcg/day). Maile has been doing better in first grade and I have not slept this well since I was a teenager.

Important facts about iodine: The highest concentration of iodine found in the body is in the thyroid gland and it’s essential for proper thyroid function. Outside the thyroid, the highest concentrations will be found in the breast and ovaries of women, a man’s prostate gland and the epidermis of the skin. Iodine is found in almost every cell of the body; that is if there is enough to saturate the thyroid first, which in the vast majority of us is not the case.

Iodine (I) belongs to a class of elements called “halogens”, along with fluorine (F), chlorine (Cl), and bromine (Br). Fluorine (Fluorine is a known carcinogen and is present in our drinking water and in many of our drugs such as Cipro, Lipitor, Prozac, Paxil, and Effexor) and bromine (bromide in baked goods – bread, interferes with iodide uptake and utilization in the thyroid gland) appear to be NOT REQUIRED for human health. Along with perchlorate, a water contaminant and chlorine compound, these various halogens compete or affect each other.

Fluorine, certain chlorine compounds and bromine, all push iodide out and affect the body in a negative manor, especially the thyroid, breast, ovaries, prostate and skin.

The U.S. has the highest incidence of breast cancer and Japan’s breast cancer level is the lowest in the world. The U.S. life expectancy rating is 48th of the 226 countries; Japan is 6th. Our infant mortality rate is 7 per 1000 births; Japan is 3.5 per 1000, which is the lowest incidence in the world. Yet, when the Japanese relocate to this country and adopt our diet, they quickly join the U.S. statistics for cancer, life expectancy, and infant mortality.

Two reasons why we are so deficient in iodine are: First, and obviously, we don’t ingest enough iodine every day. Second, the little iodine we ingest gets displaced or pushed out of the essential tissues (by fluorine, chlorine and bromine – Halogen Metals). See IODINE AND OTHER HALOGENS.

The good new is that iodide supplementation is effective in detoxing fluorine and bromine out of the body. (See also Iodine and Disease and Iodine and the Body).
2 – Red Bell Peppers
1 – Yellow Bell Pepper (Optional. May use 3 Red Bell Peppers instead)
3 – Roma Tomatoes
3 – Cloves Garlic
1 – White or Yellow Onion
2 – Jalapenos (Optional)
1 – Sprig of Thyme
2 Tbsp – Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 Tbsp – Half & Half (Optional)
2 – Cups Spring Water or Stock (Chicken or Vegetable)
Sea Salt and Cracked Black Pepper to Taste

Preparation:

1. Chop all vegetables into chunks and place on a large baking sheet, lined with aluminum foil.

2. Pour the extra virgin olive oil over the vegetables. Coat them all by rubbing the oil in with your hands.

3. Turn the broiler on high and place the baking sheet on the top rack. Broil vegetable mixture until the desired char is reached. This usually takes about 10-15 minutes.

4. Place the mixture into a blender. Add the thyme and water or stock. Blend until creamy.

5. Pour into a pot and cook the soup for about 15 minutes over low heat, to meld all the flavors together. Add the half & half (I like to do this because it helps to balance the acid, and adds a smoother mouth-feel).

6. At this point, add the sea salt and cracked pepper to taste.

7. Serve and Enjoy.

January 26th, 2011 at 6:30pm. Location: Park Plaza – 620 S. Glassell St. Orange, CA

This Video Should Be Viewed By Everyone, not just those concerned about cancer. This material is relevant to all disease conditions and medical/holistic treatments – Please bring a friend(s)

This award-winning film, by Mike Anderson, is two hours long, in two parts, and covers a comprehensive range of topics. There will be a group discussion at the end (for those who want to stay)

The Video:

Part 1 – Curing Cancer (1 hr). Curing Cancer, deals with the failings of conventional cancer treatments and shows how conventional medicine wildly – and deceptively – exaggerates the benefits of treatments, while minimizing the risks. It will provide you with the information you need to accurately assess the risks and benefits of any treatment and speak intelligently to your doctor about such treatments. There is also a section on the ‘Cancer Industry’ which explains the history behind cancer treatments, the suppression of alternative treatments and why chemotherapy, radiation and surgery are the only treatments available to mainstream medicine.

Part 2 – Healing Cancer (1 hr). Healing Cancer, shows how cancer can be successfully healed with dietary treatments and natural supplementation. It explains common misconceptions about cancer, shows how diets designed to fight cancer are more successful than conventional treatments, discusses startling cancer research findings with T. Colin Campbell (The China Study) and has interviews with people who have reversed cancers using diet. It also discusses supplementation and why attitude is important in reversing not only cancer, but any disease

Additional Information:

Healthy snacks and drinks will be provided. If you would like to bring a healthy snack to share, please e-mail me so I can let you know how many people will be attending. Since this is the first meet-up, I am not sure what the active group size will be.

The Meet-up will be held on January 26th at 6:30pm, at the up-scale, senior living community, Park Plaza. Park Plaza is located across the street from Hart Park and Just south of Yen Ching Chinese restaurant. Please park just south of Park Plaza at 630 S. Glassell. There is plenty of parking there (is the next driveway south).

You can e-mail at info@advancedhealing.com or call 714-639-4360 if you have any questions.

The below cycle of inflammation (also known as an inflammatory cascade) is one of the most profound contributors to ill health and disease we face. Once set in motion, this inflammatory cycle will feed itself and becomes harder to suppress. 75% of the patients I see are in my practice because of the effects inflammation is having on their body. 100% of these effects are a direct result of not following (step 6) at the bottom of the page. The easiest way to avoid disease and ill health is to remove as many stressors (step 1) out of your life.Step 1. Over-exposure or excessive physical, emotional and/or chemical stress’, leading to the activation of a potent modulator of the inflammatory cycle.

Stressors: Radiation; oxidative stress; physical injury, bacterial endotoxin or lipopolysaccharide (LPS) from food-borne bacteria (E. coli and Salmonella); “Leaky Gut Syndrome”; food and environmental allergens; viral infections; excessive consumption of simple sugars (sucrose); consumption of corn oil; arachidonic acid metabolites such as PGE2; nutrient poor, processed food diet; insufficient Omega 3 fatty acids (ALA, EPA, DHA), insufficient GLA and Vitamin D deficiency.

Step 2. Activation of NF-κB

NF-κB is widely used by eukaryotic (cells that contain a nucleus) cells as a regulator of genes that control cell proliferation and cell survival (anti-apoptotic). Blocking NF-κB can cause tumor cells to stop proliferating, to die, or to become more sensitive to the action of anti-tumor agents.

NF-κB also controls many genes involved in inflammation (cytokines [signaling molecules used extensively in intercellular communication], cell adhesion molecules and the pro-inflammatory enzymes: inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS,) cyclo-oxygenase (COX) and lipoxygenase (LPOX). NF-κB is found to be chronically active in many inflammatory diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease, arthritis, sepsis, gastritis, asthma, neurodegenerative diseases, and cardiovascular disease.

Step 3. Cytokines, cell adhesion molecules and the pro-inflammatory enzymes are produced.

*Interleukin-6 (IL-6) → C-Reactive Protein (CRP)
Cyclooxygenase-2 → Prostaglandin-E2 (PGE2) and Thromboxanes
Interleukin-1 (IL-1) → Collagenase-3 (MMP-13)
Lipoxygenase → Leukotrienes
Inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase (iNOS) → Nitric Oxide (NO)
Tissue Necrosis Factor (TNFα)
*Cell Adhesion Molecules (CAMs)

Step 4. Health conditions created by prolonged exposure to the above chemicals.

Pain

Inflammation (edema, swelling)

Asthma and Hypersensitivity to Potential Allergens

Cardiovascular disease

Thrombosis (blood clots)

Insulin resistance

Autoimmune disease (Hashimoto’s, Lupus…)

Rheumatoid disease

Neurodegeneration (Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease)

Cancer

Step 5. IL-1, PGE2, reactive oxygen species and oxidative stress, TNFα and CRP created because of the above health conditions, facilitate the continued activation of NF-κB.

Step 6. In order to break the above inflammatory cycle, stressors need to be removed, severely reduced or reversed. One of the easiest steps that can be taken is to eliminate table sugar, vegetable oil and hydrogenated fats out of the diet and add in Omega 3 fatty acids, in the form of fish and flax seed oil. Next, is to reduce animal protein (red meat) consumption to 6 ounces per day and add-in nutrient dense foods like: vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds and beans. Increasing antioxidants and anti-inflammatory nutrients is a cost effective measure that will pay dividends in the form of less sickness, disease and an increased life-span. Here are a few of my favorite nutrients that support anti-inflammatory processes: molecularly distilled fish oil, natural vitamin C, chlorella, vitamin E, selenium, NAC, resveratrol, grape seed extract and curcumin. Here are a few of my favorite antioxidant rich (anti-inflammatory) fruits and vegetables: red bell pepper, tomato, cilantro, spinach, red cabbage, onion, garlic, strawberries, blueberries and red raspberries. Lastly, engaging in mild-moderate exercise (3 days/week), taking a broad-spectrum, enteric-coated probiotic and 4,000 – 10,000 IU’s of vitamin D3 per day, will round-out any anti-inflammatory protocol.

Step 7. Proactive diagnostic blood tests to determine the presence and level of inflammation within the body, as well as tests that will determine risk for development of cardiovascular disease (heart attack) or cerebrovascular disease (stroke). Any of these tests can be ordered by calling our office 714-639-4360

C-Reactive Protein (CRP) – High Sensitive (Cardiac)

Homocysteine

Fibrinogen

Hemoglobin A1C

IL-6 – Interleukin – 6

Sed Rate (ESR)

Lipid Panel

D,25 Hydroxycalciferol – Vitamin D

*Atherosclerosis is strongly considered to be a low-grade inflammatory response of the arterial wall to a variety of stimuli in all aspects of coronary syndromes, from the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis to plaque rupture and myocardial cell death. In each of these steps, infiltration of cardiovascular tissue by inflammatory cells is evident and is regulated by a number of cytokines (IL-6 and CRP) and cell adhesion molecules. Maseri A. N Engl J Med. 1997;336:1014-1016

These are just some of the fresh fruits and vegetables we will be using for this weeks meals (1/3-8/2010). Green, brown, red and white onions; cilantro; jalapeno and Serrano chilies; garlic; green cabbage; Roma tomatoes; celery; carrots; cucumber; red and green apple; banana; lemon and lime. Already in the refrigerator: Romaine lettuce, cauliflower, flat-leaf parsley and broccoli.

Here are just some of the benefits that one may obtain from eating these fruits and vegetables.

Celery and Green Peppers/Chilies: Researchers at the University of Illinois have found that the plant compound, luteolin, found in abundance in celery and green peppers can disrupt a key component of the inflammatory response in the brain. Luteolin reduces IL-6 production in microglia by inhibiting JNK phosphorylation and activation of AP-1

Onion: Are rich in the bioflavinoids curcumin and quercetin. This natural combination is effective in reducing oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is known to trigger autoimmune disease development and contribute to disease flare-ups. Studies show that onions support cardiovascular health, help prevent diabetes and atherosclerosis and reduce the risk of colon and stomach cancers.

Chilies Peppers: Frequent consumption of chilies may help fight migraine and sinus headaches; prevent sinusitis and relieve congestion; fight cancer; lower high blood pressure; reduce inflammation; relieve Intestinal Diseases; help burn fat and lose weight; protect your heart.

Tomato: Are the best source for the antioxidant, Lycopene. Lycopene has been shown to help protect not only against prostate, but breast, pancreatic and intestinal cancers, especially when consumed with fat-rich foods, such as avocado, olive oil or nuts (This is because carotenoids are fat-soluble, meaning they are absorbed into the body along with fats). The lycopene in tomatoes may also provide cardiovascular benefits. Diets rich in tomato products may significantly improve cholesterol profiles and reduce the tendency to form blood clots.

Carrot: Are by far one of the richest source of carotenoids-just one cup provides 16,679 IUs of beta-carotene and 3,432 REs (retinol equivalents), or roughly 686.3% the RDA for vitamin A. High carotenoid intake has been linked with a 20% decrease in postmenopausal breast cancer and an up to 50% decrease in the incidence of cancers of the bladder, cervix, prostate, colon, larynx, and esophagus. Falcarinol another active chemical in carrots promote colon health. The development of emphysema my be reduced with a diet high in vitamin A, even in smokers.:

Apples: Are a rich source of phytochemicals (phenolics, flavonoids and carotenoids) and epidemiological studies have linked the consumption of apples with reduced risk of some cancers, cardiovascular disease, asthma, and diabetes.

Garlic: And its preparations have been widely recognized as agents for prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and other metabolic diseases, atherosclerosis, hyperlipidemia, thrombosis, hypertension and diabetes.

Broccoli: Like other cruciferous vegetables (kale, cabbage, Brussels sprouts), broccoli contains the phytonutrients sulforaphane and the indoles, which possess significant anti-cancer effects. Broccoli also supports stomach health (anti H. pylori); supports sun-damaged skin; cardiovascular-protective; may prevent cataracts, osteoporosis (high in vitamin K), birth defects (high in folic acid) and is an immune system stimulator.

The DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) eating plan has been researched and proven to lower blood pressure in only 14 days.

Mediterranean Diet

Since high blood pressure is, for the majority of those who suffer from it, self created, following this simple plan can reverse the factors that created it.

The DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) eating plan has been researched and proven to lower blood pressure in only 14 days. Those who will experience the best results are people whose blood pressure was only moderately high, including those with prehypertension(1). For those of you with more severe hypertension and may not be able to eliminate medication, the DASH diet can help to improve your response to medication, and at the same time it will help lower blood pressure. The DASH diet can also aid in lowering cholesterol levels, raise HDL’s and if with a little exercise added in, weight reduction will be seen allow with a reduction in insulin resistance.

Most of you reading this will easily admit that this seems like a very healthy way of eating, but initially when implemented may find it hard to sustain. The truth is that the average American only eats 2 – 3 servings of fruits and vegetables combined each day, so following the DASH diet may involve making a determined effort.

The best part of eating this way is that you will be reducing your chances of developing degenerative diseases, cancers or autoimmune diseases. Also this is a preventive diet against weight gain, obesity and diabetes.

Some helpful tips for lowering your blood pressure and following the DASH diet

Eating fewer processed foods, such as snack items, luncheon meats, and canned soups, will reduce the amount of sodium in your diet and help you lower your blood pressure.

A diet high in calcium, potassium, and magnesium (fruits and vegetables are excellent sources of this nutrients) may lower your blood pressure.

A diet high in sodium may cause high blood pressure.

DASH recommends that you eat 8 to 10 servings of fruits and vegetables and 3 servings of low-fat dairy products each day.

Eating a diet low in both saturated fat and total fat will also help lower your blood pressure. Only 30% (I recommend using olive oil as your fat source) of your total calories should be from fat, with only 7% to 10% of
your fat calories from saturated fat. Saturated fat is found in meats, cheeses, butter, poultry, snack foods, and other processed foods.

In general, vegetarian (Mediterranean diet) diets reduce blood pressure. The DASH diet could easily be a vegetarian diet if legumes were substituted for meat. Vegetarian diets tend to be higher in potassium, magnesium, and calcium, as is the DASH diet. Vegetarian diets also are higher in fiber and unsaturated fat than other diets.

Controlling your weight, increasing your physical activity, and reducing sodium in your diet will help reduce your blood pressure even more when combined with the DASH diet. More information here: Mediterranean Diet Helps Prevent Depression.

(1). Prehypertension is considered to be blood pressure readings with a systolic pressure from 120 to 139 mm Hg or a diastolic pressure from 80 to 89 mm Hg. Readings greater than or equal to 140/90 mm Hg are considered hypertension.

The 5 most common nutritional deficiencies I see in my Orange, chiropractic and holistic practice are: Magnesium, Zinc, Vitamin D, Vitamin E and Omega 3 Fatty Acids (ALA, EPA and DHA).

“These are the most common nutritional deficiencies I see in my Orange, chiropractic and integrative medicine practice: Magnesium, Zinc, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Omega 3 Fatty Acids (ALA, EPA, DHA) and Iodine (potassium Iodide). I personally feel that these deficiencies are not just representative of my local area but are a glimpse of what the world, in general, is experiencing. Below is a brief summary for each nutrient. I have come to this conclusion based on dietary analysis, clinical observation/correlation, blood and urine tests.” Marcus Ettinger BSc, DC

Each drop = 2,000 IU’s). Recommended dosage of emulsified Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) - (6,000 – 10,000 IU’s per day for adults and 2,000 IU’s for children above the age of five). Skin exposure to the sun, 15 minutes per day, is another great way to get adequate Vitamin D exposure. Note: living in southern California, I only take my Vitamin D3 during the months of October through the beginning of June. I surf a lot, and as soon as my wetsuit comes off and I can get 15 minutes+ of direct sunlight, I no longer need the supplement form. In fact, if I kept taking it, I would sunburn within 15 minutes. This is what your body does when the vitamin D3 level is maxed-out.

4. Vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol)

My theory has developed over a 20 year period of time and holds credibility as a corollary to the long-standing law in anatomy and physiology known as – Wollf’s law. Wolff’s law, in short, states that, “bone remodels according to the physical stress placed upon it.” As an example: a pitcher’s, pitching arm (humerus, radius and ulna) will be denser than his non-pitching arm. The opposite of this is, if we lived in outer-space our bones would dissolve (osteoporosis) because of the lack of gravity; no weight-bearing load on the bones. All of the calcium supplementation, estrogen replacement (for women), and Fosimax (medication) in the world would not prevent this process from happening.

My theory takes Wollf’s law to the next level and states, “Our entire body remodels according to the stress placed upon it: invisibly, physically, emotionally and chemically.” All four of these stressors or outside influences/forces, will directly affect the remodeling of every cell, tissue and physiological function of the body. This means that our inward and outward appearance and physiological state is in direct correlation to the (way, what and/or how) we sleep, eat, drink, act, exercise, think, deal with stress, or are exposed to stress’ or outside forces.

Physical stress makes-up the largest portion of the overall stressors we will be subjected to on a daily basis. The foods we eat and how often, our exercise level or lack of exercise, chronic postures (work, driving and sleep), chemicals, pesticides, excessive alcohol, medicines, drugs and our body’s own waste products, all influence how we remodel.

If we ingest all of the essential nutrients that our body requires, with all other factors aside, our body will remodel properly. The opposite can be said for eating devitalized food, such as fast food, boxed or canned food; as well as being exposed to drugs, medicines, alcohol, pesticides, toxins, etc… Examples: If we increase protein and weight bearing exercise, an increase in muscle mass and strength will be the result. If we increase fats and/or carbohydrates, combined with a lack of physical exercise, an increase in body fat, blood sugar, blood fats and blood pressure will be the result. This is called: diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol and hypertension. Exposure to toxins, pesticides, molds, drugs or excessive alcohol, may lead to cancer, ADHD and many other diseases.

Emotional stress placed on the body will have similar effects. If we feel or are exposed to happiness, joy or generosity, all good stress’ will facilitate a positive remodeling (ex. neurotransmitter and hormone production). If we feel or are exposed to anger, expressed or unexpressed resentment, blame or shame, all negative emotions, this will facilitate our body to remodel in a non-optimum way (increased inflammation on decreased endocrine and brain function – Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s). The negative remodeling can lead to everything we don’t want to have our body experience, such as cancer, autoimmune disease and body degeneration. The positive remodeling will help increase the immune system and overall strength of the body, leading to a longer, healthier and more vibrant life.

Invisible forces (electromagnetic waves [radio waves, microwaves, infrared radiation, visible light, ultraviolet radiation, X-rays and gamma rays], gravity and ionizing radiation) are constantly present and can affect us as much as the overt chemical, emotional and physical forces do. The invisible forces, most of the time, actually precede and initiate the physical, emotional or chemical stress’ that causes the remodeling of our body’s cells or, more specifically, the cell membranes.

It’s easy to see from this, that everything we do or don’t do, and everything that is done to us, sometimes unknowingly, affects how our body remodels. This means how we look and how we functions. The point I am trying to make here is that we can at least be “cause” of over a very large part of this and be responsible for what we do on a daily basis (eat, exercise, rest…) and what we allow around us. If we do not learn from this then we can go through life at “effect” like a stick floating down a river, out of control. By ignoring this theory, negative remodeling will be the outcome and all the negative consequences that come with it. The choice is ours.
