<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>PREPARATION:</strong></p>
<p>1.  Chop up mushrooms, jalapeno (keep both separate), tomato, avocado and cilantro.</p>
<p>2.  In a small bowl combine low fat mayonnaise and habanero hot sauce.</p>
<p>3.  In a non-stick pan add 1 tsp EVOO, mushrooms, jalapeno and ground turkey.  Saute until cooked.  Add sea salt and ground pepper to taste.</p>
<p>4.  Place lettuce cups on a plate, divide turkey mixture evenly and top with the chopped tomato, cilantro and avocado. Finish off the lettuce wraps by pacing the habanero mayonnaise on top.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">3 weeks to go until my Sonoma wine tasting trip, then 4 weeks until we leave for an all inclusive trip to Puerto Vallarta.  My goal as of today will be at 10% body fat by the end of March and somewhere between 155lbs and 160lbs.  I will have to add 45-90 minutes of cardio, per week into the equation, along with 3-4 hours of weights.  This is very doable.  I can&#8217;t wait for next months pictures.   </p>

<p>Here is an interesting observation: Since I&#8217;ve been on this program I have been sharing my story with everyone I know, meet or have as a friend on the net.  You know how many people have said, &#8220;you know, I would like to lose a few pounds too and get back into shape?&#8221;  One!  And she signed up today to complete the program.  My conclusion, which may be right or wrong, but I feel it&#8217;s more correct than not &#8211; most people are satisfied with their current weight and level of health.  Either that or they have gotten so used to how they look and feel that change is not in their reality.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">You would think that most people would want to live a long and healthy life, and take proactive steps to guarantee that it would be that way, when they&#8217;re seniors.  For some reason it&#8217;s not working out that way.   As an example: Most of my friends are in there mid-forties and have known me for over 20 years.  The number of those friends that has asked me for advise or help, one or two.   Now maybe it&#8217;s because they think of me more as their buddy, than as a doctor, but they know what I do, how I look and how I act.  So, really there are no excuses.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">That&#8217;s my two cents for the day.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">I still feel great, energy high and sleeping good.  There are no cravings and I have to force myself to eat all the food Ultra Lite want me to. Lunches are the hardest. I fill-up very quickly. It&#8217;s not a bad thing, as I will eat the rest an hour later for a snack.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;">It&#8217;s the morning of day (16) on the Ultra Lite program and I&#8217;m now down 9.5 lbs &#8211; 165 lbs, my marriage weight of June 2003. I would be down more but tried a 24hr experiment that failed miserably.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">So, I wanted to see how my body would respond to a cheat day, as I know somewhere along the program a patient may have cheat day.  It might be a wedding or birthday and they will not want to follow the program on that day.  I wanted to see what that would do to me having already been on the program for almost two weeks and having a pretty good diet beforehand.</p>
<p>Friday night I had a friend over and we had some wine (3 glasses of <a title="Carol Shelton's Maple Zin" href="http://www.carolshelton.com/assetdl.php?file=18" target="_blank">Carol Shelton&#8217;s Maple Zin</a>).  My breakfast,  lunch and dinner Friday was per the program.  The only cheat, Friday, was the wine.</p>

Saturday morning I woke-up and weighed in at 163.5, 1.5 lbs down from the day before.  A ketogenic diet can cause a lot of water loss.  So that combined with the alcohol, I became quite dehydrated. I drank 44oz of water between 7am-12pm before I ever went to the bathroom.  For breakfast Saturday I had a Ultra Lite sanctioned meal.</p>
<p>Now the ultra-cheat.  For lunch the family went to <a title="Oggi's" href="http://www.oggis.com/" target="_blank">Oggi&#8217;s</a> for a pepperoni pizza and beer.  I had three pieces of pizza and a 16 ounce <a title="Torrey Pines IPA" href="http://www.oggis.com/Beer/TorreyPines.htm" target="_blank">Torrey Pines IPA</a>, yummy.  For dinner we went out with some friends to the <a title="Lazy Dog Cafe" href="http://www.lazydogcafe.com/" target="_blank">Lazy Dog Cafe</a> in Orange.  I had a 22 ounce <a title="Stone IPA" href="http://www.stonebrew.com/tasting/ipa/" target="_blank">Stone IPA</a>, braised lamb shank with mashed potatoes and vegetables.  For desert, a little vanilla ice cream.</p>
<p>The let down.  Sunday morning I weighed in at 167.5 lbs., a net gain of 2 lbs (I&#8217;m not counting water weight lost the day before).  I went from 163.5 to 167.5 in one day.  That&#8217;s 1.5lb of water lost between Friday night and Saturday morning,  back, and 2 lbs of water and food from Saturday lunch and dinner.</p>
<p>By Tuesday I was back on track and lost an additional .5 lb to 165 lbs.</p>
<p>The moral of the story is this: it doesn&#8217;t pay to cheat when you are trying to lose weight.  I came back quickly, but I am also starting from a body fat and weight point that most others won&#8217;t be at.  A cheat day for them may take a full week to get back into ketosis and back to losing weight.  It&#8217;s not worth it and I learned to not try that again.</p>
